In a statement to the Northern Echo, The RSPCA made this shocking comment:
"The living conditions of the retired greyhounds needed improvement but they were clean and warm with bedding and fresh water. None of them were showing signs of suffering.
"No further action will be taken in this instance."
Mrs Simpson, who lives in Hetton-le-Hole, said the GBGB has been out to inspect the kennels since the visit on Friday.
She said: “They said they were not up to GBGB standards, but the dogs were in perfect health, were well fed, had plenty water and were warm.
“What they did was rehome them and we asked them to do that. They were not taken. They were given over voluntarily.
“They are not going to do anything else. It is finished with.”

The Greyhound Board of Great Britain suspended the greyhound trainers license, but shortly after she returned to racing dogs at GBGB licensed stadia
They made the following statement to the Northern Echo;
"A spokesman for the Greyhound Board of Great Britain said: “The GBGB can confirm that it has suspended the licence of greyhound trainer Pat Simpson while it investigates the case of retired racing greyhounds being kept in unsuitable unlicensed kennels."

Thank you to the Northern Echo for covering this story
Caged attended the allotments, where the dogs were kept in the most horrific and dangerous conditions, of which we believe breach the animal welfare act 2006.
What we told the RSPCA inspector when he arrived
We could not see any available water
We were shown the shredded plastic that was used as bedding; which we believe was neither absorbent, or provided warmth or comfort.
No heating in the winter
No proper ventilation in the summer
Neighbours told us they had great concerns and could hear the dogs howling throughout the night
We explained that we were concerned there were breaches of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 at these premises
The animal Welfare Act 2006
Need for a suitable environment
Need for a suitable diet
Need to be able to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
Need to be housed with or apart from other animals
Need to be protected from pain, suffering injury and disease

Above - Daisys teeth
It's true that Greyhounds don't always have the best of teeth, but when your hounds teeth are bad, it can cause pain and suffering as well as organ damage caused by toxins being released into the body.
We shall ask GRACE RESCUE to kindly issue us with an update on Daisys condition after her vet visit

A total of 3 dogs were relinquished to Grace Rescue on the night that we attended the allotments. The owners originally agreed with Grace Rescue to relinquish all 14 that were kept in the sheds, but after the RSPCA arrived the owners decided not to sign the agreement.
The RSPCA later stated that all the remaining dogs were surrendered to them by the owners.
We would love to hear from you, if you were lucky enough to adopt one of these gentle hounds. (They are all female)
We spoke to the RSPCA but they would not advise us of the exact whereabouts of the dogs that they had seized.

The GBGB licensed Greyhound Trainer told Caged that her dogs generally retire around the age of 5 and that the oldest dog kept at the allotment was aged 13yrs.
On being questioned, she claimed that they had never approached an animal rescue for help

Video footage was livestreamed in attempt to encourage the Greyhound Board of Great Britain and RSPCA to act.
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) failed to attend as they told us the allotment sheds were not GBGB licensed kennels, but the greyhound trainer appeared confused and went on to say that she would move some of her other dogs to the allotments when they were in season.
