Reggie's Story
So today our gorgeous, happy, special and finally very lucky boy Reggie had his long overdue operation on his broken hock after a racing injury was left untreated and as a result healed badly.
The operation took a long time as all the broken bones in his hock had calcified and fused together so the calcification needed burning back before the work to repair the leg could begin. Nio is really pleased with how it went and vet nurse Cathryn told me they were really pleased the positioning of the plate was perfect. Reggie was very cold after such a long time under anaesthetic but warmed up and came around nicely if a little confused but was up on his feet in no time and is doing well. I really couldn't be happier it went so well for our boy. Reggie shouldn't have broken his leg, once he did it should have been repaired at the time but he was re-homed without any vet care then his new owners went on to deny him any vet care for another 3+ months before putting him on the free ads which is when we were made aware of him. This is why I hate the racing industry. Reggie didn't just get injured which would have been bad enough - he was left to suffer for months while being passed about.
Safe now though and that's all that matters. Just look at his before and after X-rays! Big sigh of relieve all round tonight and me and the girls cant wait to get him home x
