RETIREMENT FORM FAILURE
Above : Play Maite - One of the failed 'retired' dogs
Play Maite 4yrs old - Never seen again after being sold for just £10
One of the Syndicate members who initially purchased Play Maite sent us the following statement in December 2016;
"We saw her advertised on greyhound data and went to Laurences kennels in Nottingham to collect and paid £500 for her. We kenneled her at Askern until we could take her to Brians . The owner of Askern informed us he thought the bitch was lame so as soon as Brian was back up and running we moved her to his kennels where he had her checked out and informed us that it was her gracilis injury. Brian gave her 12 weeks rest and tried to run on his gallops but there was no improvement so we brought her to mine and re homed with Marc he promised to keep in touch which he hasn't."
We asked Sam and the GBGB whether a green retirement form was completed as it was required by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain rules and regulations.
This is where it gets interesting!

We did not make the GBGB aware that Sam had already advised us that he had never completed the green retirement form on purchasing Play Maite for £500.
The GBGB told us;
Play Maite was actually sold to Sam in October 2015 and paperwork submitted within a few days.
According to the information provided to us, this is untrue.

Greyhound Trainer of Play Maite - Laurence Tuffin
Sam admitted selling Play Maite after he realised that she could not race with the injury.
We were told that she was purchased for just £10 and no paperwork was completed.
We tried to find Play Maite after she was sold. We found a telephone phone number and possible address where she was being kept. This led us to offer a considerable amount of money to the new owner in exchange for Play Maites safety but our offer was declined. We asked for photographs of her but this was also declined.
The GBGB claimed they would visit the premises. The RSPCA was also informed but as expected nothing was achieved.
If anyone can provide information about Play Maite, which would bring her to us, we would offer a generous reward.

Above: A concerning message that was sent to us by one of the people who helped us to trace Play Maite. We believe this poor dog was moved to another address after we traced her owner.
