Tips for running your betting shop awareness event
  • Always remain polite to the public, remember people will absorb more information, if you spark an interesting and civil discussion with them.
  • Be prepared to answer questions from passers-by. Know your facts so you can answer questions about the campaign.
  • If someone shows interest, as well as offering them a leaflet suggest that they visit the Caged Nationwide website for more information.
  • Be polite and friendly at all times, even if someone has a different view. Realise that not everyone is interested in what you're saying. Don't try to force people to listen.
  • If a person says "no" to a leaflet just move on to the next person & don't take offence.
  • The leaflets are very informative, if someone accepts a leaflet think of it as an achievement, ALWAYS thank them. The information on the leaflet may be enough to deter them from either betting or attending a race night. They will also hopefully share the information they have gained by discussing the subject with family & friends, therefore just one leaflet can raise a great deal of awareness & support for the campaign.
