Andy's Story
This is ''Andy'' - we renamed him - he is a Sheffield victim, he broke his hock (the photo's don't show it clearly) - trainer tried to fix with lollipop splints, a couple of weeks later, he took ''Andy'' back to race at Sheffield - don't know the in's and out's but ''Andy'' fortunately was not allowed to race - he turned up at a rescue, left by the trainers teenage daughter outside - the first pic is when we got him (note the red mark on leg....vet said cigarette burn), the second is ''Andy'' nearly 2 years down the line - he is a nervous wreck still ,God only knows what happened to him, but he only allows us near him and is terrified of everyone still. The burn on his leg developed into mast cell cancer (which I am told often can occur as a result of a bang/trauma etc, although most of it was removed, he still has it and we keep our fingers crossed that it will not spread, he is only 5 now so we hope to have a few more years together. He can never walk very far as the back leg hock obviously wasn't properly treated, so he carries that permanent injury too.
