'New 2022 Preferred Results Ltd Report released' following complaints by the GBGB against Caged Nationwide
In 2019 Greyhound Racing Ireland
(Irish Greyhound Board) were brought to shame after
they attempted to conceal a damning
internal report
The 2017 report was prepared by Preferred Results Limited (PRL) .
It had cost the Irish Greyhound Board 115,000 euros; and in the months after the report was presented to them, the Chief executive of the IGB praised PRL for their professionalism.
We understand the report was intended to improve their business model and especially the welfare
of its dogs by pointing out serious failures; but instead of using the report in its favour and attempting to introduce an improved strategy, the IGB attempted to hide it away for two whole years.
RTE later approached the IGB asking for the report to be publicised and the IGB refused; that was until RTE explained that a copy had been leaked to them!!
The IGB's worst nightmare began when the content of the report was revealed to the nation on prime time TV during the broadcast of an award winning RTE documentary 'Greyhounds Running for their Lives'
Cruelty
It was documented within the PRL report that an average of 5,987 greyhounds were culled (unaccounted for) per year
and in addition to this, RTE had obtained undercover footage showing greyhounds being shot at knacker yards (abattoirs)
As the news hit almost every headline in Irelands tabloids, numerous greyhound racing sponsors naturally began to withdraw their support from the industry
Denial
The GRI/IGB have since made attempts to deny the PRL report was accurate
In the process, they created the Jim Power report and a new welfare strategy
In 2021 a Caged Nationwide Oxford Billboard that used content based on the PRL figures and GBGB annual data but came under attack by the British racing industry (GBGB and Oxford racing management) Complaints against Caged were made to the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) whose final decision fell in favour of the racing industry
New 2022 Preferred Results Ltd Report
Caged approached PRL for assistance and were provided with an expert report to be used in conjunction with the original 2017 PRL report to appeal a decision made against them by the ASA.
The new 2022 PRL report was submitted by Caged who cited the Jim Power report, and the IGB strategic plan along with a letter of appeal prepared by a solicitor

It's apparent that the Irish and British greyhound racing industry are dependent on one another to exist with 83% of Irelands greyhounds being specifically bred for British racing, making it the biggest motivation for Irish breeding and culling of dogs.
Its important to note that written content used on the Caged Oxford billboard was based on the greyhound racing industries very own reports
Our sincerest thanks to Preferred Results Limited for their excellent work and kindly assisting Caged Nationwide

"The Jim Power report would seem to imply that this is a massive loss-making exercise for people.
Based on your report, the numbers in relation to pups and the dog pool and exports, there is double counting, 'it doesn't add up'. It seems this industry is not about racing at all, its about breeding, because 85% of dogs in the UK are from Ireland. Irish greyhound racing is a peripheral industry to the breeding industry. It goes directly to the United Kingdom and is propping up the gambling industry there, which is a £2.7 billion industry. I do not know if they need 19 million of Irish tax payers money to prop up their gambling." The GBGB, the UK group,
have just announced that because of concerns of Irish welfare, they're going to start breeding themselves.
